Texas Gay Luxury Hotels: Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio
Three sumptuous Texas suites for celebrating magical wedding nights and special occasions
The Vibe The swankiest accommodation in The Villas, a secluded compound within this spectacular Hill Country resort on the outskirts of San Antonio, Villa Briscoe Suite (pictured above, from $1,259) contains a rustic-chic parlor with pitched ceiling, fireplace, kitchen, and a dining table that seats eight. Do be sure to reserve a table for dinner at the fantastic, and stylish, Signature Restaurant, helmed by local celebrity chef Andrew Weissman.
Favorite Features An outdoor shower and fire pit off the huge patio, Bulgari bath amenities, a private golf cart to get around the resort, and close proximity to La Cantera’s fabulous Loma de Vida spa, where you can book couples massages in a Sky Loft with its own soaking tub and private deck.
The Vibe At this hip boutique hotel in Houston’s retail-rich Uptown District, you can choose from several over-the-top themed rooms, including our favorite for Lone Star State–inspired romance, the Wrangle Suite (from $409). This rangy honeymoon nest abounds with offbeat accents: steer horns, rodeo photos, mohair throw pillows, books on tack and saddlery—even a barbed-wire sculpture in the shape of Texas.
Favorite Features Floor-to-ceiling windows and a spacious balcony, two bathrooms with soaking tubs, and a nifty lobby shop that sells cowboy boots and other cool gear.
The Vibe You’ll find ample room to spread out and entertain in the 800-square-foot Deluxe Suite (from $399). This stately 1924 redbrick hotel built in the style of legendary architect Louis Sullivan is a favorite for LGBTQ weddings. Guests love congregating in the grand Library bar, which features nightly cabaret and serves stellar handcrafted cocktails.
Favorite Features Large wet bar areas, romantic crowned canopy bed with Italian Fili D’oro duvets, walking distance from Oak Lawn’s vibrant gay nightlife, where you and your guests can keep on dancing long after your reception has ended.
