Houston Wedding Florals with Flower Vibes – Protea Wedding Flowers
Boldly beautiful flowers named for the shape-shifting Greek god Proteus can transform the look of your wedding.
A symbol of transformation, the ancient protea flower also symbolizes rebirth and diversity. Houston wedding florals designer Holly Callahan of Flower Vibes used the spiky, pink king protea as the focal point of these free-spirited bouquets, which also feature pincushion proteas, tiny white Pieris japonica, seeded eucalyptus, jasmine, plumosa ferns, and, for a green base, commodore palm leaves. Set design by Sarah Lydia Events.
“When it comes to designing wedding florals, I love to create and maintain a vibe that truly encompasses the couple’s unique style and personal flair,” Callahan says. She designed this dramatic altar arrangement, “to truly allow the king proteas the chance to fully express themselves.”
Callahan’s own bulldog, Gertie Grace, models this floral collar that’s perfect for pooches participating in their owners’ special day. It’s a blend of eucalyptus, jasmine, plumosa ferns, and Italian Ruscus. Making flower collars for pups is one of Callahan’s favorite ways to add color and humor to a wedding.
These vibrant florals lend texture and bold colors to the dinner table. Lavish Linens provided the elegant napery.
Callahan makes it a point to include rosemary, which symbolizes remembrance, in her wedding arrangements. The calligraphy in the image below is by Bunnies & Boxwoods, a custom calligraphy service in Houston.
