Hotel Saint George
Opened in 2016 beside the rail tracks in the heart of downtown, this strikingly contemporary four-story hotel has its own alluring event space, the Farmstand—with a massive 5,600-square-foot dance floor—plus a 75-foot pool, two restaurants, and a swish bar and lounge.
The Wrong Store
“This was the first church of Marfa, built in 1886,” says Buck Johnston, co-owner with her partner Camp Bosworth of this delightfully eccentric gallery and curiosities shop set inside one of the town’s most memorable wedding venues. The space is framed magnificently by a 13½-foot-tall Gothic window and makes a spare, dramatic reception backdrop with its bare white walls, floors, and ceilings.
A 45-minute drive from the northern entrance to Big Bend and an hour closer to the state’s eastern points than Marfa, this stately yet informal 1927 hotel and spa in tiny Marathon is one of the region’s swankiest and most celebrated spots to stay—and get married. There are few more beautiful Far West Texas wedding settings than the property’s cloistered courtyards and 27 acres of meticulously laid out gardens.
Have your ceremony amid the white-canvas tepees and restored vintage trailers of this rustic-chic, lesbian-owned compound operated by renowned Austin hotelier Liz Lambert. On a large swatch of prairie a few miles south of town near the Chinati Foundation, El Cosmico can host weddings of just about any size.
The brainchild of Donald Judd, this 340-acre art center on the grounds of an early 20th-century army base comprises a number of indoor and outdoor wedding sites—many of them with views of breathtaking large-scale art installations.
Part of the retro-cool midcentury modern Thunderbird Hotel, this angular and airy 4,000-square-foot event center captures Marfa’s urban-minimalist aesthetic, with its textured-concrete walls, vaulted ceiling, retractable soaring windows, and stylishly xeriscaped side garden and reflecting pool.
